• RODIN, MOORE, WHITEREAD, KEITH-ROACH

    25 November 2022 - 27 January 2023
  • Ben Hunter is pleased to present an exhibition comprised of sculptures by Auguste Rodin, Henry Moore, Rachel Whiteread and Clementine Keith-Roach. The exhibition is accompanied by a catalogue with an essay by Dr Jennifer Sliwka.

The artworks, which span over a century, are united by their depictions of the human form – rendered in plaster or terracotta – conjuring images of bodies, limbs, hands and torsos.

Art historical references abound, alongside more intimate themes – of maternal (and familial) love and labour, religion, and the relationship between found objects and their handmade counterparts. The works offer an invitation to consider the nuances which distinguish cast and modelled objects even on a small scale – and feel the subtle tension between works which disguise their process of manufacture and those that reveal it.
